Fagus Intermedia Wall – Experience history in a playful way

The UNESCO Visitor Center at the historic Fagus Factory in Alfeld, is a place where history meets innovation. The vision is to create a digital experience that does not just present the past, but makes it come alive in a playful, interactive, and accessible way appealing to all generations.

Together with our partners, we developed the Intermedia Wall ([Link to product]. It is an immersive solution that invites visitors to dive into the fascinating world of World Heritage. A place where touch unlocks stories, images come to life, and cultural heritage can be discovered in entirely new ways.

At the heart of the project was a question: how can more than 250 UNESCO World Heritage Sites be showcased in a way that inspires curiosity, encourages exploration, and complements the architectural significance of this historic location?

The result is more than just a digital information system. It’s an interactive exhibition experience designed to spark emotion, promote engagement, and take every visitor on a unique journey of discovery.

With the Intermedia Wall, we have created an interactive media installation for museums and exhibitions that presents content in a visually captivating and user friendly way. Inspired by the aesthetics of nature, a dynamic visual landscape draws visitors in and invites them to explore history through intuitive touch manipulation.

Those looking to discover content in a playful manner can watch as images glide effortlessly across the screen. For visitors seeking more structured information, the intelligent menu system provides a clear and engaging path through the topics. The content responds in real time, while the ultra high resolution display delivers a truly immersive and premium experience.

To ensure accessibility for a broad international audience, the Fagus Intermedia Wall was developed in four languages: German, English, Spanish, and French.

The technological implementation was as sophisticated as the content itself. To achieve outstanding visual quality, six seamlessly connected bezel-free monitors were installed. Paired with precise touch sensors and anti-glare protective glass, the result is an exceptional tactile and visual user experience. The Intermedia Wall is also compatible with a variety of other interactive presentation formats.

Cutting edge technology alone does not necessarily create an engaging digital experience. It was the close collaboration with the Fagus Factory team and a network of creative minds that brought the vision to life. The end result was a media wall that not only integrates harmoniously into the architectural setting, but also sets new standards in digital storytelling and knowledge sharing.

What truly sets the Intermedia Wall apart is its sense of motion and presence. When not actively used, it doesn’t go dormant. Instead, it develops a dynamic life of its own.
